Fast Food Alternatives
The average American is getting busier and busier every day. The fact that many families have more than one child involved in more than one activity does not help the problem of over scheduling every day. Families who are busy all the time often resort to eating fast food instead of cooking at home. These people do not realize the harmful effects eating fast food on a regular basis can have on the health of all individuals.
The preparation time for making a meal at home can take as little as five minutes. It’s as simple as making a sandwich, which doesn’t sound like much, but it’s a lot better for you than indulging in a greasy, unhealthy fast food meal. Eating at home can also encourage families to “slow down” a little bit, and spends some quality time with each other. Although going through a drive-thru on your way home might seem like the quicker and more convenient thing to do at the time, it can have a negative long-lasting effect on your health. Eating fast food frequently can cause weight and cholesterol to fluctuate, lowering self-esteem and damaging the overall well-being of every individual. If you are in a rush, there are always healthy alternatives to fast food. Subway offers low calorie, low fat sandwiches that are actually pretty appetizing. If you’ve tried Subway before and haven’t been a big fan, you could always go to your local grocery store and pick up a salad or frozen dinner. I know that frozen meals don’t always sound like the most appetizing alternative to eating fast food, but they are a healthier choice. Next time you’re in a rush and need food quickly, try and think of a healthy alternative to fast food. I promise, it will be better for you in the long run!
