The benefits of resistance training are numerous, and probably more than what you might think!  When most people think of resistance training, they automatically think of building muscle.  While this is a tremendous benefit, it is just one of many.  Did you know that resistance training can also build stronger bones?  As we age, typically our bone density starts to decrease.  Therefore, it’s crucial for men and women alike from all age groups to do some type of resistance training.  There are multiple routines you can do.  However, if you are just starting out, I recommend doing a total body routine 3 times per week, 1-3 sets per body part, with 10-15 reps per set.  Some other benefits of resistance training can include improved balance, improved flexibility, and decrease in body fat.
