Trainer Tip of the Week – Goal Setting During the Holidays
I believe that goal setting is crucial, if you are serious about seeing serious results. Whenever I begin to work with someone, we always set a goal, and come up with a plan on how to achieve it. During the holidays, it’s very easy to get out of your normal routine, and unfortunately it’s easy for some to get out of the habit of exercising. Setting a realistic goal during the holidays though, can be an effective way to stay motivated exercising. However, I have found that during this time of year, having a big weight loss goal might not be the best idea. Here are some other ideas, and challenges to consider during the the holiday season.
•Number of workouts. From now until New Year’s Day, set a reasonable number of workouts you know that you can achieve. Don’t accept anything less than the number you set!
•Do a fitness challenge. You can do a squat, push-up, plank, sit-up, etc., challenge. This is a great way to keep you active through the holidays. For example, pick 1 or more exercises, then do 5 reps the first day and add 5 reps each day for 30 days.
•Train for a race. There are all sorts of races around town, and the area going on all the time. Pick one, challenge yourself, and train for it!
