Trainer Tip of the Week – Tabata
Let’s face it. We have all had those days where we simply don’t want to workout, or just don’t have much time to workout period. If you have ever found yourself in this predicament, try Tabata training! Tabata training is a four minute, high intensity workout that is sure to get your heart rate up, your blood pumping, and you don’t even need any equipment! Try picking one or two exercises (I prefer two), and do the exercise(s) for twenty seconds, followed by a ten second rest, for a total of four minutes. If you perform four Tabata circuits, you are looking at under twenty minutes for a high intensity, calorie burning workout! However, feel free to rest a little (no more than 1 minute) between each Tabata circuit. Tabata training is also a great technique to use if you’re traveling, and have limited resources.
Tabata workout example:
Jumping Jacks-20 seconds
Repeat three more times for a total of four minutes.
*There’s a tabata timer app you can download to make keeping time simple!
